Consultation description

Reducing the risk posed by pathways of introduction and spread is a key way of combating this threat.

Five draft Pathway Actions Plans have been developed to help reduce risks.

They cover the following high priority areas:

  • recreational boating and angling – preventing the risk of introducing or spreading invasive species between waterbodies
  • horticulture - preventing invasive garden plants and contaminants in soil being moved around
  • zoos - preventing the release or escape of animals kept in zoos or wildlife parks
  • pets - preventing the release or escape of pets that may become invasive

The action plans lay out best-practice approaches for government, organisations and individuals to help guide resources and behaviour in the right direction.

We are consulting jointly with Scottish Government and UK Government to seek your views on the draft plans.
