Professor John Parkin, University of the West of England Commissioner
Professor Parkin worked for consulting engineers before joining academia.
He is now Professor of Transport Engineering at the University of the West of England and Deputy Director of the Centre for Transport and Society. He has written the definitive book about 'Designing for cycle traffic'. Professor Parkin has been involved in all stages of the promotion of transport schemes including policy formulation, modelling and forecasting, operational analysis and economic appraisal, design and construction, and evaluation. He has experience across all modes of transport and have a particular specialism in cycling.
