Public Appointments case study: Chris Wong

Chris has been living in the UK since 2021 is currently an Executive Officer working for the UK Government. His career to date has be based on his dedication to public service and the desire to create a positive impact in the community he lives and works in.

Chris was interested in a public appointment as he was keen develop his skills and experience. He was also keen to get the opportunity to help shape the direction and strategy of the public sector.

Chris said:

“My motivation to become a board member stems from a strong desire for personal growth. I am also passionate about making a meaningful contribution and increasing the representation of ethnic minorities in leadership positions.”

Chris’ role involves shadowing the Public Health Wales Board and this invaluable opportunity has allowed him to learn from experienced board members. He has also found out more about how Public Health Wales is run and the strategic planning that takes place.

This role has given him a platform to influence positive change and ensure diverse perspectives are included in decision-making processes.

Chris added:

“The opportunity has allowed me to work with and learn from experienced professionals in various fields.

By being involved, I have also been able to share my thoughts and ideas and contribute to the running of an important public body.
