A review of school governing body clerks’ performance, and training and support for them.

The purpose of this review has been to answer the following questions:

  • What do clerks need to do well to be effective?
  • What do they currently do well and what do they do less well?
  • What can be done to improve their performance?

This report presents the main findings from the work, which has included quantitative and qualitative research with clerks and chairs to school governing bodies, in addition to a survey of Governor Support Units across each of the 22 local authorities in Wales.
