About this data
Detailed data for road collisions and the vehicles and casualties involved dating from 2007. The statistics are on personal injury collisions on public roads that are reported to the police and recorded on the STATS19 collision reporting system (Department for Transport). These data are the most detailed and reliable source of information on road collisions and casualties. They do not include road collisions:
- that were not reported to the police
- that occurred on private land such as car parks or fields
- where no personal injury was recorded
- where the collision was later confirmed by a medical professional or coroner to be a suicide or medical episode
Final annual data is released in spring or summer each year. This follows publication of the provisional annual reported road collision statistical publication.
Detailed quality information is published in the accompanying quality report.
Changes and revisions
Annual data are not routinely revised though occasionally minor amendments to previous years can be made.
Guidance and documentation
