Practitioners must follow this immunisation pathway from 1 July 2025 onwards.
This schedule supersedes the previous immunisation pathway.
Updates to the selective neonatal vaccination schedule are explained in detail in WHC/2025/019.
Selective neonatal Hepatitis B immunisation pathway
Birth
At birth, administer Monovalent hepatitis B (Engerix B / HBvaxPRO)
Four weeks
At four weeks of age, administer Monovalent hepatitis B (Engerix B / HBvaxPRO)
One year to 18 months
Between one year and 18 months of age, test for HepB surface antigen.
Testing can be undertaken at any time during this period, for example at an opportunistic healthcare attendance or routine appointment.
Record the results of the test the baby’s primary care record.
