This privacy statement relates to applications for funding submitted to the Welsh Government under the Sêr Cymru programme Enhancing Competitiveness Equipment Award 2022/23.

The Welsh Government is required to collect information about those applying to the Sêr Cymru Enhancing Competitiveness Equipment Award 2022 to 2023 as part of its public task to administer the funding.

The Welsh Government will be data controller for any personal data provided as part of the application process. 

This data will include your name, work postal address, and work email address provided in the application form, plus any additional information you choose to include as part of your applicant curriculum vitae (CV).

We will process your personal data to administer the application process, check your eligibility, inform funding decisions and to meet audit obligations. In some instances, we may use your information to monitor the performance and impact of the programme.

We will share your data, if required, with officers of Welsh Government, Welsh Ministers, National Assembly for Wales officials, Wales Audit Office and/or Auditor General for Wales, The Higher Education Funding Council for Wales for audit purposes and with non-government agencies and researchers, but only for statistical or research purposes, such as for monitoring and evaluation of the Sêr Cymru programme. The data you provide, or we collect from publicly available sources may be shared with fraud prevention agencies if we suspect or detect fraud.

We also encourage all applicants to use the link provided in the application pack to provide us with demographic information to help us monitor equality and diversity. This is voluntary, anonymous and will not be linked to your application.

Welsh Government will retain data in accordance with timescales in its own policies and for this grant scheme this means that:

For applications that were successful under the funding call, data will be retained by Welsh Government for 10 years after completion of the project and will then be deleted. The completion period includes the timescales for any ongoing monitoring requirements.

For unsuccessful applications, data will be retained by Welsh Government for 1 year and will then be deleted.

Under the data protection legislation, you have the right:

  • to access the personal data the Welsh Government holds on you;
  • require us to rectify inaccuracies in that data
  • to (in certain circumstances) object to or restrict processing
  • for (in certain circumstances) your data to be ‘erased’
  • to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) who is the independent regulator for data protection
