Simon is professional consultant, with a career in multi-disciplinary employee-owned engineering firms.
A role in which he typically acts as an expert in infrastructure master planning, planning, placemaking, and regeneration. He is a Chartered Geologist, Town Planner and Environmentalist with ~30 years’ experience in major infrastructure site design, consenting and technical and engineering assessments, particularly in Wales.
Over his career, Simon has developed trusted relationships with clients and stakeholders. His proficiency is in developing and implementing strategies, providing resilient, deliverable and sustainable solutions, giving expert advice, and developing innovative recommendations.
He has directed complex projects to deliver successful commercial and timely outcomes, including work packages on some of the UK’s major infrastructure developments, encompassing multi-billion-pound road, rail, energy, water, ports and urban regeneration projects.
Born in Bristol he has lived in Cardiff/Penarth for over 35 years and is a keen cyclist and walker. Simon is a past Chair of RTPI Wales and obtained a Part-Time Doctorate at Cardiff University in 2023 in the school of Geography and Planning. He is also a Non-Executive Director of the Design Commission for Wales, where he has contributed to Design Review Panels for 15 years to improve placemaking outcomes on projects in Wales.
