Nominated for Community spirit award

Caroline Bridge lives in Blaina in Blaenau Gwent and has been a dedicated volunteer fundraiser for the Hospice of the Valleys for over 30 years. It is estimated that during this time she has directly raised over £100,000 for the charity through a variety of fundraising events and collections.

Caroline works full time as a Sheltered Housing Scheme Manager for Tai Calon Housing Association and is the main carer for her husband but devotes as much time as she can, including using some of her annual leave, to support the charity.

She was inspired to support the hospice as a volunteer following a meeting of hospice founders over 30 years ago and quickly focussed on fundraising – by doing table top sales, selling Christmas cards and diaries in the community and was the driving force behind the hospice opening a shop in Blaina. In addition to the money she has personally raised, Caroline has indirectly raised further funding through her support for the Light Up A Life and other fundraising campaigns. Caroline is being made an ambassador for the hospice in recognition of her invaluable support for the hospice community.
