Business award 2024 winner

Case-UK was established in Merthyr Tydfil in 2016 and provides mental and physical health services across the UK. The family-run company was set up by Ian Benbow following a life-changing incident that resulted in Ian experiencing a long period of mental ill health and unemployment. Through his own experience, Ian saw a gap in the market for a company to provide support for people experiencing anxiety and stress in the workplace or difficulties in returning to work and decided to use redundancy money to set up Case-UK.

In 2018 the company secured a contract to provide mental health support for people in employment, to help them remain in work. Since then, the company has grown and now employs 80 people to provide Able Futures, In-Work and Out of Work Services across Wales and Southwest England.

The company has also developed CASE COFFEE, a unique brand of coffee used in a fleet of mobile barista vans that can be franchised by people who want to become self-employed.

One of the keys to success has been through the company employing people who have themselves suffered mental or physical ill health who have the ability to understand the needs of individual clients. It also has helped the Welsh economy by providing employment to local people.
