Innovation, Science & Technology award 2019 winner

Cerebra is a charity dedicated to helping families with children with brain conditions discover a better life together. They have established a partnership with the University of Wales Trinity Saint David to establish the Cerebra Innovation Centre (CIC). Based at the Swansea College of Art, a team of engineers design and build innovative, bespoke products to help disabled children to discover the world around them. Their designs are desirable and exciting as well as functional, promoting social inclusion and peer acceptance for the children they help. Products and advice are provided free of charge.

Some of the bespoke products they have designed include a tandem surfboard which allows children to experience the thrills of surfing, and a range of triathlon equipment to enable families to run, swim and cycle amongst the crowds. Other products include bespoke helmets for horse-riding, scooters to enable play and products to help learning and IT.
