Nominated for Young Person award
12 Year 10 pupils from Olchfa School in Swansea have been chosen as Finalists in the Young person category of the St David Awards for devising an innovative app to help GCSE pupils revise.
They formed a company; ‘Ed Up’ and marketed the app on the Google Play Store, making a profit on their product at the same time as developing essential skills for the world of work.
The team represented South West Wales in the Wales Final of Young Enterprise where they were judged in 3 categories – Best Trade Stand and Interview, Best Company Report and Best Presentation. The team won the Young Enterprise Welsh Champions 2015 title.
From the 25,000 who originally entered the competition from all over the UK, ‘Ed Up’ made it through to the final 14. The team then represented Wales in the UK Final in London on 2 July where they won the Best Presentation and Innovation in IT categories.
