Nominated for Bravery award

James Reilly, a former Royal Engineer commando, has continued to demonstrate courage and service long after his military career.

Now settled in Wrexham with his wife Sarah, daughter Mara and newborn son Dylan, James has transitioned to civilian life as a dedicated plumber and heating engineer, making a positive impact in his local community.

His heroism was put to the ultimate test at Greenfield Valley Heritage Park, where he selflessly responded to a woman in grave distress, spotted struggling in icy waters. Without hesitation, James entered the freezing water, securing and reassuring the woman as he and others worked together for over an hour until emergency services arrived.

James’ decisive action, with help from bystanders and fire officer Chris Argent, saved a life that day. His instinctive response to help someone in danger in a time of crisis makes James a worthy finalist for this St David Award.
