Steve Downey is the business owner of Hannaman Material Handling, based in Deeside.
The company specialises in providing full 360 material handling solutions to its customers by supplying and servicing forklift trucks, access platforms, fleet management systems, operator training and industrial floor care equipment. The company also supply’s access to more than 15,000 products warehouse and office equipment from its new Hannaman Store on-line catalogue.
Following a career in the armed forces, Steve bought the company in 2013 and has turned the company into a modern, effective and profitable business with a growing reputation for the supply of quality products and excellent service support.
The company’s turnover has doubled and staff numbers have increased from 16 to 25.
Steve also consistently promotes a strong "work/life" balance culture with all his employees, including a monthly “suggestion scheme” where each employee can receive up to £150 per suggestion. Each employee also has access to “Perkbox” where they and their families can receive discounts and vouchers or a variety of goods and services.
Steve is a Board member of the Deeside Business Forum (DBF) and the company is an official supplier to the Wales Rally GB.
