The current status for Three Rivers cockle beds is:
- Three Rivers open from 1st July.
Three Rivers cockle fishery: opening declaration
- Llansteffan open from 1st July 2026.
- Llanybri open from 4th July 2026 until 17th July 2026.
- Gwendraeth closed until further notice.
- Ferryside open from 1st July 2026.
- St Ishmael open from 1st July 2026.
In accordance with The Cockle Fishing Management and Permitting (Specified Area) (Wales) Order 2024, the fishery will be closed from 00:01 hours on Friday 21 November to protect the stock and ensure there is a harvestable surplus for the next season.
Three Rivers cockle beds are managed under The Cockle Fishing Management and Permitting (Specified Area) (Wales) Order 2024.
The new order came into force in 2024. It replaces:
- The Cockles and Mussels (Specified Areas) (Wales) Order 2011
- Byelaw 47 of the former South Wales Sea Fisheries Committee
Applicants must use our online service to apply for a cockle gathering permit and submit catch returns.
