The current status for Three Rivers cockle beds is:
- Three Rivers closed until further notice
Three Rivers cockle fishery: closure notice
- Llansteffan open from 16 July 2025 until 20 November 2025
- Llanybri open from 19 July 2025 until 16 November 2025
- Gwendraeth open from 19 July 2025 until 22 September 2025
- Ferryside open from 16 July until 5 September 2025
- St Ishmael open from 16 July until 5 September 2025
In accordance with The Cockle Fishing Management and Permitting (Specified Area) (Wales) Order 2024, the fishery will be closed from 00:01 hours on Friday 21 November to protect the stock and ensure there is a harvestable surplus for the next season.
Three Rivers cockle beds are managed under The Cockle Fishing Management and Permitting (Specified Area) (Wales) Order 2024.
The new order came into force in 2024. It replaces:
- The Cockles and Mussels (Specified Areas) (Wales) Order 2011
- Byelaw 47 of the former South Wales Sea Fisheries Committee
Applicants must use our online service to apply for a cockle gathering permit and submit catch returns.
