It includes standards and requirements, regulations and monitoring, and reporting. The UK forestry standard works with:

  • the Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015, and
  • the Environment (Wales) Act 2016

to ensure Wales’ long-term well-being and the sustainable management of our natural resources. Our aim is:

  • a prosperous economy
  • a healthy and resilient environment
  • vibrant, cohesive communities

Sustainable forestry

The UK Forestry Standard supports sustainable forestry management and creation. We manage our woodlands and forests:

  • to meet our commitments to sustainability
  • to meet current needs
  • to enable future generations to meet their needs
  • balancing their environmental, economic and social benefits

All woodlands managed by Natural Resources Wales are certified under the UK Forestry Standard.
