Overnight domestic GB trips

There were 1.7 million overnight domestic GB trips to Wales in the first three months of 2019, which was an increase of 6%, generating expenditure of £295 million.

Domestic GB tourism day visits

During the first three months of 2019 there were 16.6 million Tourism Day visits in Wales. These visits generated expenditure of £874 million.

International visitors

The number of international trips to Wales during the first quarter of 2019, fell by 4% to 147,000. Visitor spending was £51 million, which was a 23% decrease on same time last year

Wales accommodation occupancy rates January to March average

Hotels: 54%
Guesthouse/B&B: 21%
Self-catering: 45%
Hostel: 37%

Wales Tourism Barometer

Wave 2 (May/June 2019) indicated that 83% of businesses had seen greater or equal levels of visitors compared with the same period in 2018 (22% greater, 61% equal).
