Main points

In total, 3,860 students in further education (FE) applied for a Welsh Government Learning Grant (WGLG) in 2022/23, a decrease of 6% on 2021/22. Of these 3,015 applications were successful, a decrease of 9% on 2021/22. This resulted in £3.3 million being paid out in WGLGs to FE students in 2022/23, compared to the £3.6 million that was paid out in 2021/22. 2,745 (91%) of successful applications were from full-time students and 260 (9%) of successful applications were from part-time students.

The proportion of successful applications from full-time students remains high at around 99%, with the corresponding figure for part-time students at 74%.
