These requirements are to:

  • maintain and enhance biodiversity
  • promote the resilience of ecosystems.

To do this, Welsh Government must follow the United Nations Environmental Programme Convention on Biological Diversity of 1992. 

In January 2019, the Welsh Government contributed to a UK report for the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (link right). 

This report addresses:

  • the implementation of measures for biodiversity
  • progress towards global biodiversity targets. 

This report will be updated in line with other Welsh Government reports.
