Corpora
A corpus (plural: corpora) is a large collection of words, terms, phrases, sound recordings or even human gestures, like those used in sign language.
These collections can be:
- used to create digital resources
- conduct research
- show you how to use a specific word or term
National Corpus of Contemporary Welsh (CorCenCC)
CorCenCC helps you see how words are used in real-life.
It’s a searchable collection of modern Welsh-language samples from real-life communication. This includes spoken, written and online data (like social media).

Welsh National Corpora Portal: Bangor University
The Welsh National Corpora Portal gives you access to a collection of on-line written Welsh and bilingual corpora. You can use it to search and find examples of how words and terms are used in many contexts.

Standardisation
Welsh language standardisation aims to ensure consistency in how the language works. This can involve standardising how words are spelled (orthography) and grammar rules.

The Welsh Standardisation Panel
The Welsh Standardisation Panel is a specialist panel brought together by the Welsh Government. The panel works to standardise and modernise the orthography of the Welsh language. This work:
- makes it easier for people to use Welsh
- is used by the main Welsh language dictionaries and terminology resources
Welsh Language Commissioner: standardising place names
The Welsh Language Commissioner provides advice on the standard forms of Welsh place-names to individuals and organisations. This work considers different forms of Welsh place-names and their spellings, to make a decision based on evidence.
