Lynne Neagle, Cabinet Secretary for Education
Today I have issued the 7th remit letter to the Independent Welsh Pay Review Body (IWPRB). This asks the IWPRB to consider what increases should be made to teachers’ salaries and allowances for 2026/2027.
Meanwhile, I remain committed to pursuing the priorities identified by our social partners on the Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Partnership Forum of:
- Moving Additional Learning Needs Coordinators to the leadership pay scale.
- Improving leaders’ conditions of service (which the IWPRB was remitted to consider as the second part of its sixth remit and report before the end of 2025).
- Improving leaders’ pay.
- Moving classroom teachers to a single pay scale.
- Reducing workload and working hours.
I would like to thank stakeholders in advance for their engagement with the IWPRB and look forward to working together on our collective priorities for improving pay and conditions for our excellent and hugely valued teachers.
