Following the establishment of Dysgu, the new professional learning and leadership support body, on 1 September 2025, I am pleased to confirm that Professor Dylan E Jones will take up the role of Chair of Dysgu from 5 January 2026. He was appointed for a period of 4 years after a competitive public appointments exercise run in accordance with the Governance Code for Public Appointments.
I would like to congratulate Professor Jones on his appointment. He has a detailed and broad knowledge of our education system, having led the strategic review of the of roles and responsibilities of education partners in Wales which reported in 2024.
Dysgu is key to driving progress on my priorities of improving literacy, numeracy, wellbeing and inclusion in education. It will focus on the delivery of high-quality, nationally-consistent professional learning and leadership provision to support practitioners along their career pathways.
