I am using my using my powers under section 3(1) of the Local Government and Housing Act 1989 to appoint an Independent Adjudicator to local authorities in Wales.
The post was filled on a temporary basis until 30th June 2022, as that date has now passed, I will begin the process to appoint an individual on a permanent basis to the role of Independent Adjudicator to Local Authorities in Wales until December 2027.
When appointed the post holder will fulfil the following prescribed duties.
- Consider applications from local authority employees for exemption from political restriction in respect of their posts.
- To issue directions, where appropriate, requiring a local authority to include a post in their list of those posts which are politically restricted.
- And give general advice with respect to the determination of questions of criteria to be applied in deciding whether to grant exemption.
