I am delighted to announce the reappointment of Maggie Russell as Chair of the Arts Council of Wales.
Maggie was first appointed as Chair of the Arts Council of Wales on 1 April 2023 for an initial term of three years and will now continue for a second term of three years, until 30 March 2029.
Since taking on the role, Maggie has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the arts sector in Wales. Maggie has led with integrity, vision and purpose, and under her guidance, the Arts Council Wales has administered the £8m Arts Sector Strategic Capital fund in 2025-26, supporting 40 organisations across Wales, and worked to deliver the Welsh Government’s Priorities for Culture. ACW has also benefitted from an additional £2.2m of capital funding announced in December 2025.
I am confident Maggie will continue to provide positive and effective leadership to Council and the wider arts sector in Wales, over the next three years.
