I today welcomed the leader of Cornwall Council, Councillor Linda Taylor, to Cardiff as we signed the new Celtic Heritage – Cornwall-Wales Collaboration Agreement.

This new agreement between the Welsh Government and Cornwall Council builds on our existing strong relationship and encourages further cooperation and understanding in areas of mutual interest.

Wales and Cornwall share many historical, cultural and linguistic ties, and our economies and populations have many similar characteristics. These links have enabled us to learn from each other and work together in many areas.

We have identified four specific areas to further strengthen this relationship – sustainable housing provision, achieving net zero, thriving rural economies, and celebrating culture and language. I hope our collaborative work will go beyond this into other areas in the future.

The agreement is available at: https://www.cornwall.gov.uk/the-council-and-democracy/your-council/celtic-heritage-cornwall-wales-collaboration-agreement/

This statement is being issued during recess in order to keep members informed. Should members wish me to make a further statement or to answer questions on this when the Senedd returns I would be happy to do so.
