In line with changes being made in the rest of the UK, I am today announcing people who received vaccines with World Health Organisation (WHO) Emergency Use Listing status in a country issuing recognised vaccine certificates will only need to take a day two test following their arrival in Wales. This can be a lateral flow test.

The change means people who have had these vaccines will no longer be required to take a pre-departure test and day eight PCR test, or isolate after arriving in the Wales.

The vaccines which currently have WHO Emergency Use Listing status are Sinopharm, Sinovax and Covaxin.

This change is not without risk but, as I have highlighted previously, it is difficult for us to adopt a different border health regime to that required by the UK Government as the majority of international travellers arriving in Wales enter via ports and airports in England.

The change will come into force in Wales from 22 November 2021.
