The Chief Medical Officer for Wales has today confirmed a second case of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Wales.

We will continue to identify cases of the virus, isolate people, and trace anyone who has been in contact with them. These actions will prevent the virus taking hold in Wales for as long as practically possible.

As set out in the UK Action Plan, should the virus become established we will need to consider further measures to reduce the rate and extent of its spread. The exact response will be tailored to the nature, scale and location of the threat and will be informed by expert advice.

The Welsh Government will continue to take all steps necessary to protect the health of the people of Wales.

I will provide an oral statement to the Chamber on Tuesday.
