Today, I am publishing the latest version of our COVID-19 vaccination programme update.

On 12 October I published the Vaccination Strategy for Autumn and Winter outlining my priorities for the months ahead.

We are on track to offer all frontline staff, health and social care workers and care home residents across Wales an invite for their booster vaccine by 1 November.  By 31 December we aim to have vaccinated the majority of people eligible for a booster. I would like to reiterate that there is no need for people to contact the NHS or health services to check if they have an appointment, they will automatically receive an invitation to attend an appointment for the booster when it is their turn.

More than 4.6 million COVID-19 vaccinations have been administered in Wales. To date 30.9% of 12-15 year olds have received a first dose and we will have offered all in this age group first dose by 1 November.

The vaccine is our best means of protection against coronavirus. Vaccination centres across Wales are accepting walk-in appointments for first and second doses and I encourage all those who haven’t yet been vaccinated to take up this opportunity.
