The Welsh Government consulted last year on draft regulations to be made under the Playing Fields (Community Involvement in Disposal Decisions) (Wales) Measure 2010.  The regulations make provision for consultation by Local Authorities (i.e. County and County Borough Councils, Community and Town Councils and National Park Authorities in Wales) prior to a decision to dispose of a playing field.

The Welsh Government has also consulted on related draft statutory guidance to Local Authorities and the ‘Explanatory Memorandum and Regulatory Impact Assessment’ to accompany the regulations.

The consultation generated 34 responses from organisations and an individual offering over 120 comments on the proposals and questions asked. I am grateful to all those who took time to submit their views. The summary of responses together with the responses has been published on the Welsh Government’s website.

Work has been proceeding to amend the draft regulations as a consequence of issues raised during consultation, prior to a final decision on introduction of the regulations later this year.

I will ensure Members are kept informed of progress on this matter
