I am pleased to announce I have extended Professor Steve Ormerod’s second term for an additional five months, from 1 November 2025 to 31 March 2026. The extension of Professor Ormerod’s term will support the effective onboarding of Natural Resources Wales’s incoming Chair and will help to ensure Board membership remains stable whilst new members are being recruited later this year.
The role will continue to be remunerated at £350 per day for a maximum of 48 days per year (pro rata for the term of appointment).
Natural Resources Wales’ Board has accountability for ensuring Natural Resources Wales exercises its legislative functions appropriately and effectively. The Board is also responsible to Welsh Ministers for the body’s delivery of priorities as set out in my Ministerial remit letter.
I thank Professor Ormerod for agreeing to this extension and for the significant contributions he continues to make since his appointment as a Board member in 2018 and in his role as Deputy Board Chair since 2019.
