At the heart of the Welsh Government’s ambitions for Welsh society sits equality of outcome for everyone. Today, I am launching a consultation to seek your views on the future Strategic Equality Objectives for the next 4 years, until 31 March 2024.

Our Strategic Equality Plan will capture a range of Welsh Government actions which will help us fulfil the Strategic Equality Objectives. Every 4 years the Welsh Government reviews these objectives to ensure they remain meaningful, fit for purpose and current. These objectives support long-term aims for our society which stretch far past the 4 years of the Strategic Equality Objectives and look to future generations.

We want to hear views from as many people as possible. In particular we want to hear from the public, private and third sectors together with other interested organisations and individuals. These views will ensure the Strategic Equality Objectives, which will be central to the emerging Strategic Equality Action Plan 2020-2024, are developed through taking account of as many perspectives as possible.

In this way, we will demonstrate the eventual actions taken forward are focussed on the right outcomes and are driven by the needs and wishes of the people of Wales, putting the person and place at the heart of the services we provide and fund.
