Sarah Murphy MS, Minister for Mental Health and Wellbeing
I am today re-launching the NHS Wales App with enhanced access, consistent services and a suite of new functions which will be rolled out over the next year.
If they have not done so already, I am encouraging people to register for the NHS Wales App via their smartphone or the website as we turbocharge our commitment to provide more personalised care for people and empowering them to manage their own health and wellbeing.
Enhanced access means those who are currently unable to verify their identity using the online NHS Login function, for example, because they do not have a government-issued ID; because of digital barriers, or other challenges, will be able to do so at their GP surgery using the new Welsh Identity Verification Service.
The bilingual NHS Wales App will immediately offer all users the ability to order repeat prescriptions, view their health timeline and prescription history, access health advice and information, including screening and wellbeing services and secure messaging and user feedback.
Over the next year, updates to the app will enable people to track their place on the waiting list for treatment, view hospital appointments, and request test results, together with a range of tools to help people manage their health as they wait for hospital treatment.
Our ultimate ambition is the NHS Wales App to become a digital front door for all NHS and social care services.
I will make a statement to the Senedd about the development of the NHS Wales App and its functionality before summer recess.
