The Playing Fields (Community Involvement in Disposal Decisions) (Wales) Regulations 2015 have today been laid before the National Assembly for Wales.

The Regulations, which are due to come into force on 1 October 2015, make provision for consultation by Local Authorities (i.e. County and County Borough Councils, Community and Town Councils and National Park Authorities in Wales) prior to a final decision to dispose of a playing field. This will ensure a Local Authority is fully aware of the views of the community when it takes its decision to dispose of a playing field. In addition, the Regulations require an Authority’s decision, and the reasons for it, to be published, which will bring transparency to the decision making process.

Statutory Guidance will be issued to Local Authorities
