Today I am publishing our second annual report in relation to Cymraeg 2050: a million Welsh speakers, the Welsh Government’s long term strategy for the Welsh language.

The strategy has three strategic themes to achieve this vision:

  • Theme 1: Increasing the number of Welsh speakers
  • Theme 2: Increasing the use of Welsh
  • Theme 3: Creating favourable conditions – Infrastructure and context

In this report, you can see how we have continued to work across these themes in order to lay the necessary foundations, and to make progress towards our national target of a million Welsh speakers.

Although it’s only two years since its launch, the report shows that we are making progress across the strategy, and that if we can just get to grips with some areas which need to be developed further, we can make significant strides during the strategy’s next phase.
