Eluned Morgan MS, First Minister
I was delighted to announce last week at Maesteg Town Hall that the Welsh Government is investing up to £1 million in an exciting programme of activity for St David’s Day 2026.
The St David’s Day Pilot Support Fund opened for applications on 14 October. This fund is designed to support activities that bring communities together across Wales in celebration of our heritage, culture and values.
We invite applications that seek to promote traditional and contemporary Welsh culture and heritage, engage all communities across Wales, support Welsh creatives and businesses, and increase the visibility and reach of St David’s Day celebrations on a national scale.
Organisations will be able to apply for three levels of funding, from small community groups to major national organisations. Local groups can apply for grants from £1,000 to £5,000 to deliver local or neighbourhood events. Up to £20,000 will be available for organisations that can deliver projects or events with a regional or multi community impact, and up to £40,000 for Wales-wide organisations to deliver nationwide activities.
We’re encouraging a wide range of activities which promote traditional and contemporary Welsh culture such as music, art, literature, sport, food and the Welsh language - this could include parades, music performances, community workshops, traditional Welsh folk dancing (twmpathau) or food-based events.
The fund will be open for applications until 12pm on Friday 14 November 2025. Organisations can access the guidance notes and application form here: St Davids Day 2026: Pilot support fund
