Sustainable Development is at the heart of the Programme for Government. On 3 December 2012 the Welsh Government issued a second consultation on proposals to legislate for sustainable development in Wales.

The consultation provided further details on the proposals to make sustainable development the central organising principle for public services in Wales, and to create an independent sustainable development body.

I am today issuing a summary report of the responses to the Sustainable Development White Paper.

I am taking time to fully consider the responses within the context of my overarching responsibility for Sustainable Development. It is important that we get this right both for current and for future generations.

My officials will continue to work with stakeholders following the consultation to ensure that legislation delivers for the people of Wales, now and in the long term.
