Today, I am publishing the summary of responses to the consultation on charitable rates relief for schools and hospitals in Wales.

The consultation opened on 31 January and, following a four-week extension in recognition of the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on potential respondents, closed on 29 May.

The consultation asked for views on whether there is a need to reform charitable rates relief for schools and hospitals in Wales. The key finding of the consultation exercise is that there are mixed views about charitable relief for schools and hospitals, with a variety of perspectives put forward. The consultation will be used to inform the development of any future policy proposals in this area, which will themselves be subject to further consultation.
