I am pleased to announce that the Welsh Government will support the University of Wales Trinity St David by contributing towards its ambitious plans to create an innovative hub for the Creative Industries in Carmarthen.

The Yr Egin project has the potential to deliver enabling infrastructure to support a cluster of creative businesses and to enhance Wales’ reputation in the media sector by providing space and networking opportunities for other businesses, TSD’s students and entrepreneurs.

Our contribution will help Carmarthen build on S4C’s decision to locate its headquarters there and to ensure performance and value for money we will require the University to work with its partners to assemble a full funding package.

As well as helping to bring high quality jobs to Carmarthen, I expect our support of the project to help its wider social and cultural goals and help promote Welsh as a living, vibrant language.
