I am pleased to announce that the first Annual Report, as required by the Violence against Women, Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence (Wales) Act 2015 (“the Act”) has been laid in the Assembly.

The report, which covers the period of time between the date section 12 of the Act came into force (5 October 2015) and the end of the following financial year (31 March 2017), addresses progress made towards achieving the purpose of the Act and the objectives set out in the Act’s accompanying national strategy.

The report lays out the significant progress made against implementation of the Act, including the appointment of the first National Adviser, development of a whole school approach to Violence against Women, Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence, the establishment of the National Training Framework on Violence against Women, Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence, and the launch of “Ask and Act”.
