  • The Emergency Assistance Payment (EAP) had 95,072 applications and the Individual Assistance Payment (IAP) had 21,802 applications during the financial year 2018 to 2019.
  • 6,521 applications were approved for the IAP for people to get furniture like a sofa or freezer or a washing machine. 52,159 grants were awarded for the EAP to help pay for essential costs, such as food, gas, electricity or clothing after an emergency.
  • The highest number of applications for the IAP came from people living in Cardiff (3,734), Newport (1,830) and Rhondda Cynon Taf (1,766).
  • The highest number of applications for the EAP came from people living in Cardiff (14,897), Rhondda Cynon Taf (9,232) and Swansea (8,149).
