Already have an account
If you already have a Government Gateway account, you can sign in using your Government Gateway User ID and Password. The user ID would have been emailed to you when you set up the account and looks like this 60 53 49 86 21 77
The password is one that you would have set up at the time of registration.
You will then be asked to enter your access code. You would have chosen to receive this either by text, voice or authentication app when you registered on the system.
Setting up a new account
Register for a Government Gateway user ID and password as part of applying for the Childcare Offer or registering your setting. When you do this, follow these steps to set up an account:
- select Create sign in details
- enter your Email address and select Continue
- enter the confirmation code sent to your email address and select Continue
- enter your full name and select Continue
- enter a Password, then enter again in Confirm your password and select Continue
- make a note of your Government Gateway user ID and select Continue
Chose an option what additional security preference you wish to set up and how you want to get your access code
- select Text message, Voice call or Authenticator app for smartphone or tablet and select Continue
If you choose Text message option:
- select Yes and select Continue
- enter UK mobile phone number and select Send access code
- enter the Access code shown on the text message and select Continue
- you’ve set up additional security, select Continue
If you choose Voice call option:
- enter valid UK phone number and select Call me
- enter the Access code from the voice call and select Continue
- you’ve set up additional security, select Continue
If you choose Authenticator app for smartphone or tablet option:
- you need an Authenticator app on your device, select Continue
- set up an Authenticator app, select Continue
- enter the Access code shown on the Authenticator app and select Continue
- enter App name and select Continue
- you’ve set up additional security, select Continue
You are now set up for the system.
You will then be taken to an Account Recovery screen which is mandatory to complete for the Childcare Offer for Wales.
Forgotten password
If you have forgotten your password:
- select I have forgotten my password
- enter Email address and select Continue
- enter confirmation code and select Continue
- enter Government Gateway user ID and select Continue
- enter Access Code and select Continue
- enter a Password, then enter again in Confirm your password and select Continue
- select back to sign in
Forgotten user ID
- select I have forgotten my Government Gateway user ID
- select No, recover my ID and press Continue
- enter Email address and select Continue
- enter confirmation code and select Continue
- enter your Password and select Continue
- enter Access Code and select Continue
- you will now be given a new user ID, make a note of this number
- select Return to sign in
