How to prepare for the new infrastructure consenting process in Wales.
Contents
Overview
The Infrastructure (Wales) Act 2024 introduces a new process for the consenting of significant infrastructure projects in Wales.
This page provides guidance to help you prepare for when the process begins on 15 December 2025.
Guidance
Guidance is being prepared to support the new consenting process. This will include advice on:
- pre-application requirements,
- how to make an application,
- how communities can get involved.
Transitional arrangements
You can still submit a project for determination by the Welsh Ministers under the existing consenting regimes before 15 December 2025.
If you plan to do this, you should seek pre-application advice from Planning and Environment Decisions Wales (PEDW). This will help make sure your application is processed smoothly.
