Introduction
Co-production is intimately linked to the Well-being of Future Generations Act and the Inner Development Goals are central to both. All of these support sustainable development, improved delivery and a range of leadership models and methods.
In 2012, the Welsh Government established the Culture Change Service, a long-term programme that explores how we can change our behaviour and create cultures in which co-production thrives. In 2022, the Well-being of Future Generations Act National Stakeholder Forum explored the links between co-production and the five ways of working in the Act. They concluded that: “Taking a co-production approach addresses all five ways of working.”
With huge thanks to everyone involved, what follows is a selection of the most successful and popular practices based on the latest scientific evidence and over a decade of experimentation. Different people in different places and at different times will need different things. For best effect, treat this manual not as a set of instructions but as a menu of suggestions and an invitation to be creative. Weaving new ways of being into all the wonderful ways you already apply the Act and replacing any habits that need to change with others from here or elsewhere.
