Original consultation

We are seeking your views on statutory guidance to assist local authorities in the licensing of pet sales.

Consultation description

We are consulting on proposed regulations under the new Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) (Wales) Regulations 2021.

The consultation seeks your view on a number of issues including whether the guidance:

  • provides enough information to assess applications and carry out inspections
  • defines rehoming centres sufficiently to ensure they can continue rehoming puppies and kittens not bred on the premises.
  • sufficiently relates to species specific conditions to ensure welfare.
