Introduction

The Welsh Government has appointed Marvell Consulting to undertake user research about the use of StatsWales on our behalf. Welsh Government will be the data Controller for any information that you provide with Marvell Consulting acting as our Processor. Any information that you provide through the user research will be used anonymously and will not be attributable to you unless we ask for your consent.

As part of our commitments to open data and making statistical information available to the public, we publish data and this research is being used to ensure that StatsWales meets the needs of those using it. Your participation in this research is completely voluntary and processing your information is based on your consent.

If you have participated in the research and wish to withdraw your consent you can do so at any time by contacting us at stats.info.desk@gov.wales.

Marvell consulting will retain this information only for the duration of their contract with us, which ends on 31 March 2025. Upon completion of the work, they will transfer all information to us, and we will retain any personally identifiable information for up to a year, at which point it will be securely destroyed. Any non-identifiable information will be retained indefinitely, such as a summary report of the research.

Individual rights

Under data protection legislation, you have the right:

  • to be informed of the personal data Welsh Government holds about you and to access it
  • to require us to rectify inaccuracies in that data
  • to (in certain circumstances) object to or restrict processing
  • for (in certain circumstances) your data to be ‘erased’
  • to (in certain circumstances) data portability
  • to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) who is our independent regulator for data protection
