Support for locally owned renewable energy projects in Wales.

Overview

Established by the Welsh Government, Ynni Cymru has the following objectives:

  • Expand locally owned renewable energy.
  • Optimise locally owned renewable energy projects.
  • Accelerate deployment of smart local energy systems (SLES).
  • Facilitate a just transition, retaining the benefits for Welsh communities.

What support is available?

To achieve these objectives a broad suite of support is available. This includes:

  • a health check service is available to existing renewable energy generators across Wales (*specific eligibility criteria applicable)
  • a grid support service is available to projects. This support is available to community enterprises
  • specialist project development support is available for projects wishing to deliver Smart Local Energy Systems (SLES). Tools are available to support battery/storage installations and heat technologies
  • a route to market service is available to support projects to identify the optimal means to secure local energy supply
  • Welsh Government Capital Funding to deliver SLES across Wales

Who can use Ynni Cymru?

Ynni Cymru support is available to:

  • community enterprises and third sector organisations
  • public sector organisations
  • SMEs based in Wales
