Neath Port Talbot Youth Council
Neath Port Talbot Youth Council champion children’s rights by empowering young people aged 11-25 years to have a say and influence change in all decisions affecting their lives.
The overall aim of the project is to increase and embed young people’s participation in local, regional and national decision-making structures, ensuring children and young people have a voice and their rights are respected.
Among the Youth Council’s achievements they have helped to gain provision for young people from the LGBTQ+ community, accessed funds for young people to be trained in First Aid, and challenged proposed cuts to Faith and Welsh school transport funding.
The judges felt this project showed good examples of how a Youth Council could be run and demonstrated many positive changes.
