The STAND with Girls project is part of a national programme to help ensure girls understand their rights and can affect change in their local communities.
Girls involved with the project engage with decision makers locally and nationally to share their campaigns on girls’ rights. The project helps participants to explore key themes including tackling stereotypes, developing assertiveness, advocacy and campaigning.
The project has helped to raise girls’ rights as an important agenda locally and nationally to ensure girls’ voices are taken into account when planning services.
The judges were impressed by the success of this project in raising awareness of girls’ rights at a local level and the success of the participants in engaging with local and national decision makers.
