GISDA

GISDA is a charity supporting homeless and vulnerable young people in Gwynedd. Their holistic approach addresses every aspect of a young person's journey - from safe accommodation and well-being support to creative activities, training, and employment opportunities, GISDA equips them with the tools to build confidence, resilience, and independence. They navigate the complexities of the benefit system alongside young people, ensuring they receive the resources they deserve.

The numbers speak volumes: in 2022-2023, GISDA supported 266 homeless or at-risk young people, fostered meaningful connections for 76 LGBTQ+ individuals, and provided mental health support to 265 young people – all through the Welsh language.

Going beyond service provision GISDA’s ‘Voice’ strategic theme prioritises listening to young people, ensuring their lived experiences shape the organisation's activities and future. But the real impact lies in the transformed lives: "Without GISDA, I wouldn't be independent, wouldn't have started college, wouldn't have an apartment, and wouldn't be able to improve my mental health," one young person shares. Another echoes, "I don't know where I would be without GISDA. They helped me get a house and showed me how to make bills and stuff."

The judging panel recognised GISDA's innovative approach, the long-lasting impact on young people, and their strong adherence to the Five Pillars of Youth Work.
