Abdullah Shams Alrawas is a shining example of the transformative power of youth work. After arriving in the UK as a young asylum seeker, he has progressed from service user to volunteer and now a dedicated Youth Support Worker with EYST Wrexham, using his lived experience to inspire and uplift others.
Through his leadership of the Youth Sports Development Programme and his work with the Homework Club, Abdullah has created safe, inclusive spaces where young people from minority ethnic backgrounds can thrive. His initiatives, including tailored support for young women, are breaking down barriers to participation, building confidence, and opening access into education, employment and wellbeing.
